BCP-A’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Programme underscores our commitment to promoting health, reducing poverty, and empowering women through access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education. Our comprehensive approach encompasses various strategies aimed at improving hygiene practices and sanitation standards within communities.

1. Construction of latrines and handwashing facilities: We prioritize the construction of latrines and handwashing facilities in areas where access to sanitation infrastructure is lacking. By providing community members with safe and hygienic facilities for waste disposal and handwashing, we help prevent the spread of waterborne diseases and improve overall sanitation standards.

2. Distribution of hygiene kits: BCP-A distributes hygiene kits containing essential items such as soap, detergent, and menstrual hygiene products to vulnerable households. These kits enable families to practice good hygiene habits and maintain cleanliness, particularly in resource-constrained settings where access to hygiene products may be limited.

3. Community awareness campaigns: We conduct community awareness campaigns to promote good hygiene practices and raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene. Through workshops, demonstrations, and educational materials, we empower community members with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt hygienic behaviors and maintain clean living environments.

4. Capacity building and training: BCP-A provides capacity-building and training sessions on water, sanitation, and hygiene for community members, health workers, and local leaders. These sessions cover topics such as water management, sanitation practices, and disease prevention, equipping participants with the tools and knowledge needed to address hygiene-related challenges effectively.

5. Monitoring and evaluation: We conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of our WASH interventions to assess their impact and effectiveness. This allows us to identify areas for improvement and ensure that our interventions are meeting the needs of communities and achieving desired health outcomes.

Through the WASH Programme, BCP-A aims to improve health outcomes, reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases, and enhance overall well-being within pastoralist communities. By promoting access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education, we empower communities to lead healthier and more prosperous lives.
